About Me

Service to the Pilots of APA

For the past three years, I have served the pilots of APA helping to stand up the Economic & Financial Analysis Committee and then being elected as your Chair. First and foremost, we provide independent financial analysis for the Association during negotiations (or any other dealing with the company) to ensure that proposals are accurately valued. In conjunction with those valuations, we provide analysis on our airline and the industry’s financial condition to assist APA leadership in strategic decision-making. Beyond my core committee work, I have also assisted in drafting language and financially modeling the Furlough Medical Fund in 2020. Additionally, I have represented the pilots of DFW as a DDR at the Board table, and continue to represent APA at high-level financial meetings with the company.

Flying History

I was hired at American Airlines in April 2014, initially selecting the MD-80 in DFW. In 2017, as the MD-80 was being retired, I transitioned to the right seat of the A-320 (still in DFW), which remains my bid status today.

My flying career began as an Air Force Enlisted Aviator on the KC-10 at Travis Air Force Base, California. Once I completed my bachelor’s degree, I was accepted for Air Force Commissioning and Pilot Training in 2008. After earning Distinguished Graduate from pilot training in 2009, I returned to Travis AFB where I flew the KC-10 as a co-pilot, aircraft commander, instructor, and schoolhouse instructor until 2017. I still serve as a reservist in a non-flying position out of NAS-JRB Fort Worth, Texas.

More about me…

I grew up in rural Northern California, in the small town of Redding. My father retired after 30 years as an officer with the California Highway Patrol and instilled the importance of service in me from a very young age. I’ve been fortunate to translate my own desire to serve into a career with the Air Force, and now with APA.

I live just north of downtown Dallas with my beautiful wife (Liz) and our two kids (Sam, 10, and Libby, 1). I earned my MBA from SMU’s Cox School of Business in 2019 and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Government (minor in History) from Sacramento State University.

When I’m not flying the line, working for you at APA, or performing military duty, I enjoy golf, hiking, skiing, and spending time with my family. I am active in my community and enjoy volunteering at my son’s school and coaching his sports teams.
